Minimum Requirements

  1. Philippine Citizenship: Must be a Filipino citizen.
  2. Good Character: Must have good moral character.
  3. Health Clearance: Must pass mental, drug, and physical tests.
  4. Education: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
  5. Civil Service Eligibility: Must have the appropriate eligibility certification.
  6. Employment Record: Must not have been dishonorably discharged from previous jobs.
  7. No Criminal Convictions: Must have no convictions involving moral issues.
  8. Height:
    • Male: At least 1.57 meters.Female: At least 1.52 meters.
    • Note: Height and age waivers may be given to cultural community members.
  9. Age Limit: Maximum 40 years old; applicants over 36 must sign a waiver for full retirement benefits.

Required IDs Before Applying: BIR, PAG-IBIG, and PhilHealth numbers.


Accepted Eligibilities

  1. CSC Career Service Professional Eligibility
  2. P.D. 907 (for College Honor Graduates)
  3. Penology Officer Eligibility
  4. CSC Police Officer Eligibility (from July 1998 onwards)
  5. BAR/Board Eligibility (R.A. 1080)

Note: R.A. 1080 requires a Bachelor’s Degree. If eligibility was obtained before completing the degree, it won’t be accepted for this role.


Physical, Medical, and Dental Guidelines

  1. Location: All tests must be done in a DOH-accredited government hospital.
  2. Fitness Clearance: Medical clearance must state “FIT FOR RIGID TRAINING.”
  3. Disqualifications:
    • Tattoos (except small aesthetic ones)
    • Unusual piercings or penile injections
    • Weight outside BMI 18.5 – 25.5
    • Vision issues not corrected by glasses
    • Speech defects
    • Untreated physical conditions (e.g., hernias, bone fractures)
    • Communicable diseases (e.g., TB, Hepatitis B)
    • Mental health issues
    • Falsification of medical documents
  4. Dental: A thorough dental exam is required; additional procedures may be necessary.
  5. Finality of PMDE Result: Applicants disqualified in the Physical, Medical, and Dental Evaluation (PMDE) will not be re-evaluated.
  6. Fees: No charges from BuCor Health Officers, except for tests done outside BuCor.

How to Apply for the Corrections Officer I Position

  8. Education & Employment: Attach your authenticated Diploma and Certificate of Employment.
  9. Passport Copy: Include if available.
  10. Notarized Waiver: Provide a notarized waiver for the Background Investigation.
  11. House Sketch & Photos: Add a sketch of your residence and two recent 2×2 ID photos.

  13. Dress Code for Submission:
