Job Description:

  • Performing maintenance on the farm.
  • Managing farming activities.
  • Working with horses, cows, and chickens.
  • Feeding, clearing the dung out, cleaning machinery, milking, cleaning the animals, selling products such as eggs, milk, ice-cream, etc.
  • Planting fruits and vegetables (e.g. pumpkins, potatoes, lettuces, leeks, tomatoes, strawberries, peaches, melons), caring, harvesting, processing and possibly selling products locally.
  • Growing cut flowers and ornamental plants.
  • Seeding, growing and harvesting crops such as rice, millet, corn, and wheat.
  • Repair farm machinery so it can still be utilized to cultivate, harvest, and haul crops.
  • Serve as the sales agent for livestock and crops.
  • Determine how to raise crops or livestock according to factors such as market conditions, federal program availability, and soil conditions.
  • Adapt their duties to the seasons, weather conditions, or a crop’s growing cycle.
  • Supervise all steps of the crop production and ranging process, including planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and herding.
  • Maintain farm facilities, such as water pipes, hoses, fences, and animal shelters.
  • Select and purchase supplies, such as seed, fertilizers, and farm machinery.
  • Keep financial, tax, production, and employee records.
  • Performing manual labor.
