Job Description:
- Performing maintenance on the farm.
- Managing farming activities.
- Working with horses, cows, and chickens.
- Feeding, clearing the dung out, cleaning machinery, milking, cleaning the animals, selling products such as eggs, milk, ice-cream, etc.
- Planting fruits and vegetables (e.g. pumpkins, potatoes, lettuces, leeks, tomatoes, strawberries, peaches, melons), caring, harvesting, processing and possibly selling products locally.
- Growing cut flowers and ornamental plants.
- Seeding, growing and harvesting crops such as rice, millet, corn, and wheat.
- Repair farm machinery so it can still be utilized to cultivate, harvest, and haul crops.
- Serve as the sales agent for livestock and crops.
- Determine how to raise crops or livestock according to factors such as market conditions, federal program availability, and soil conditions.
- Adapt their duties to the seasons, weather conditions, or a crop’s growing cycle.
- Supervise all steps of the crop production and ranging process, including planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and herding.
