Steps to Join the BJMP STAR Team
Here are the main steps to join the BJMP Special Tactics and Response Team:
1. Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a BJMP officer, aged 35 or younger.
- Must be physically and mentally fit, with a medical clearance from the BJMP Regional Health Service.
- Should not have undergone previous specialized training.
2. Application and Screening:
- BJMP Regional Offices are responsible for selecting team members. Each region sends a team of five officers for training.
- The Directorate for Human Resource Development (DHRD) conducts the final screening to ensure candidates meet all requirements.
3. Training Details:
- Location: Training is held at the PNPA Firing Range, Cavite.
- Duration: The course lasts 60 days and includes intense training in tactics, firearms, crisis response, and disaster management.
- Curriculum: Training includes weapons handling, tactical skills, operational planning, and emergency response.
4. Costs and Equipment:
- BJMP regional offices cover participants’ travel expenses.
- Participants are expected to bring BJMP-issued firearms for training.
5. Certification and Completion:
- Upon successful completion, participants receive certification and become official STAR Team members, ready to respond to critical incidents in jails and other emergencies.
