Training Programs for CGSOF

CGSOF training is challenging. This training includes these main courses:

1. Coast Guard Special Operations Course (CGSOC):

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Phases:
    • Phase 1 (Motivation): Physical conditioning with a tough 5-day “Hell Week.”
    • Phase 2 (SCUBA): Learning occupational SCUBA and technical diving.
    • Phase 3 (Tactics): Skills in reconnaissance, demolition, small unit tactics, and marksmanship.
    • Phase 4 (Non-Academic): Physical fitness, skill assessment, and peer reviews.

2. Basic Underwater Special Operations Course (BUSOC):

  • BUSOC Provides skills for advanced underwater operations. This course is required for further CGSOF training.

3. Counter-Terrorism Course (CTC):

  • Duration: 3 months
  • Requirements: Completion of BUSOC.
  • Training Includes:
    • Gun safety and close-quarter combat
    • Combat swimming and immediate action drills
    • Visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS)
    • Air-to-ground mission planning, crisis management, and basic rifle marksmanship
    • Tactical combat casualty care (TCCC) and land navigation
