Qualifications for the Philippine Navy
This section lists the qualifications needed to join different training programs in the Philippine Navy.
Naval Officer Candidate Course (NOCC):
- Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in technical courses).
- Must be 20-26 years old when applying and not older than 27 when appointed as Probationary Ensign / Probationary 2LT.
- Minimum height of 5’0″ (152.4 cm).
- Must be single, never married, and has no child.
- Must have good moral character.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for training.
Sailor Basic Course (SBC):
- Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen.
- Must have completed 12 years of basic education (K-12), have at least 72 college units from a government-recognized school, or have completed a TESDA technical course with a National Certificate (NCII).
- Must be at least 18 years old, but not older than 24 years and 5 months when applying, and not older than 25 years and 5 months upon appointment as Candidate Sailor/Soldier.
- Minimum height of 5’0″ (152.4 cm).
- Must be single, never married, and has no child.
- Must have good moral character.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for training.
Marine Basic Course (MBC):
- Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen.
- Must have completed 12 years of basic education (K-12), have at least 72 college units from a government-recognized school, or have completed a TESDA technical course with a National Certificate (NCII).
- Must be at least 18 years old, but not older than 24 years and 5 months when applying, and not older than 25 years and 5 months upon appointment as Candidate Sailor/Soldier.
- Minimum height of 5’0″ (152.4 cm).
- Must be single, never married, and has no child.
- Must have good moral character.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for training.
Naval Reservist:
- Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen.
- Age: 18 to 64 years old.
- Must pass a medical and physical examination.
- Must be at least a high school graduate for enlistment and have a bachelor’s degree for commission.
- Must pass the AFP Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) for commission.
- Must be cleared by N2 (security clearance).
