Qualifications

To qualify for PNP SAF, you need:

1. Be a Filipino citizen.
2. Good moral character.
3. Be physically and mentally fit.
4. Hold a bachelor’s degree.
5. Have one of these eligibilities:
   • NAPOLCOM PNP Entrance Exam
   • Civil Service Exam (Professional)
   • Bar or Board Passer
   • Licensed Criminologist
   • College Honor Graduate
6. No dishonorable discharge or convictions.
7. Height:
   • Male: 5’2″ (157 cm)
   • Female: 5’0″ (152.4 cm)
8. Weight must fit the standard for your height.
9. Age: 21 to 30 years old.

1. CSC and PNP Personal Data Sheet (Revised 2017).
2. PSA Certificates (Birth, Marriage, CENOMAR)
3. Valid ID photocopy with three signatures.
4. School Documents (Diploma, Transcript of Records).

6. Clearances:
   • National Police Clearance
   • Barangay Clearance
   • Mayor’s Clearance
   • Prosecutor/Fiscal Clearance
   • MTC Clearance

7. Original Service Record from previous government employment (if applicable).
8. Photos (Whole body, bust-size, 2×2) with a white background.

SAF Training Process

1. Joining the PNP:
   • Candidates start by joining the Philippine National Police (PNP) as a Patrolman or Patrolwoman.
2. Public Safety Basic Training:
   • After taking their oath, recruits complete a six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training School.
   • They then go through another six months of Field Training (or On-the-Job Training) at local police stations in their assigned area.
3. SAF Commando Course:
   • Candidates take the SAF Commando Course or similar courses like the Scout Ranger or Special Forces Operations Course.
   • This challenging course prepares them for SAF duties with training in:
     • Security operations
     • Water rescues
     • Police response tactics
     • Community (barangay) work
     • Field exercises
   • After finishing, they earn the SAF Beret.
4. Specialized Training:
   • Once they have the SAF Beret, officers can take extra training to specialize in:
     • Explosives and bomb disposal
     • Basic Airborne Course (parachuting)
     • Urban Counter-Warfare Course (called SURESHOCK)
     • K-9 training with police dogs
     • Sniper training
     • Underwater Search and Rescue
     • Maritime Tactical Operations (only if they’ve done SURESHOCK and Airborne)
     • SAF Seaborne Warfare
5. International Cross-Training:
   • SAF officers also have training opportunities with international special units, such as the U.S. 1st Special Forces Group, Hostage Rescue Teams, and other elite groups.
